Borders Group names vice president, acquisition and retention marketing

Borders Group Inc. has named Jessica J. Harley to the position of vice president, acquisition and retention marketing. She will be responsible for leading all efforts to acquire new customers and expand business with existing customers.

Harley will manage implementation of customer acquisition and retention strategies across multiple channels including e-mail, search engine and affiliate marketing; direct marketing; and electronic and broadcast advertising. She also will oversee the company's Borders Rewards loyalty program, which has over 16 million members.

Harley joins Borders Group from Barnes & Noble Inc., where she served as director of promotions and managed coupon promotions across channels and the promotional launch of loyalty program enhancements, and recruited new customers and credit card accounts through direct marketing and online promotions.

Harley also has been director of marketing for Bookspan, a joint venture of Bertelsmann AG and Time Warner, where she directed customer acquisition and customer sales and retention for several book clubs.
