Starbucks puts a lid on its Internet Express service, at least for now
Coffee lovers in Denver and Seattle will have to go back to fumbling for cash to buy their Starbucks coffee, now that the coffee chain is terminating tests of its Internet Express service. The service allows customers to order and pay on Starbucks.com before picking up their goods at their local Starbucks café.
Starbucks Corp. will end the service Feb. 23 in both Seattle and Denver, even though it considered it a success that was highly regarded by customers, a spokeswoman tells InternetRetailer.com. She adds that Starbucks will now take time to study how the tests worked and consider future similar services. "We will evaluate what we`ve learned in the coming months and work on innovations in service delivery, which our customers will see in the future," she says, declining to offer details.
She adds that Starbucks had always intended to end the pilots after January.
