Sharper Image’s web sales grow 45% in first four months
Internet sales at Sharper Image Corp. increased 45% in the first third of the company’s fiscal year, reaching $33.5 million from $23.1 million a year ago, the company reported today.
Total company sales for the first four months grew 30% to $204.1 million from $157.2 million a year ago. The Internet accounted for 16.4% of all sales in the first four months vs. 14.7% a year ago.
Store sales were up 24% to $111.7 million from $90.3 million. Comparable store sales were up 6%. Direct sales other than Internet sales, which includes catalog and infomercials, were up 22.7% to $25.4 million from $20.7 million a year ago.
In May, Internet sales were up 11% to $7.3 million from $6.5 million last May. Companywide sales were up 18% to $51.4 million from $43.7 million. Store sales increased 19% to $30.3 million. Comparable store sales were up 1%. Direct sales other than Internet were up 25% to $6.5 million from $5.2 million.
