Bombay’s web sales grow 48% while total sales slip 5%
2006 web sales at Bombay Co. Inc. reached $23.5 million, up 48% from $15.9 million a year earlier, Bombay tells Internet Retailer. Companywide sales for Bombay, No. 291 in the Internet Retailer Top 500 Guide, decreased 5.1% to $536.3 million from $565.1 million a year earlier.
The web accounted for 4.4% of sales in 2006 vs. 2.8% a year earlier.
Bombay suffered a net loss for the year of $52.8 million vs. a net loss of $46.7 million for the prior year.
Bombay operates 441 stores. It expects to close 75 stores this year.
