PayPal nears 35 million consumer accounts in Europe

PayPal, the third-party online payment service from eBay Inc., processed nearly $8.4 billion in payment volume last year in Europe, where it has signed up nearly 35 million accounts, PayPal says.

PayPal serves online shoppers and merchants in 15 European markets, including the United Kingdom, Ireland, Germany, France, Italy, Austria, Belgium, Spain and the Netherlands, the company says.

Participating merchants, in addition to eBay.com, participating merchants include Boots, Harrods, Meetic and Pixmania. PayPal supports 103 markets in 17 currencies.
