Coremetrics and ATG form new alliance to integrate for auto-tagging
Coremetrics Inc. will integrate auto-tagging capability from e-commerce technology provider Art Technology Group Inc. into its analytics platform under a new technology and sales alliance the companies announced this week. The combination will “create a new standard for efficiency in the collection and analysis of data from online sites,” according to the companies.
Web analytics capture web visitors’ interaction with any element on a web page that’s tagged for tracking, but currently, web site operators seeking to capture those data must “tag” or attach code to each of those elements manually when setting up or adding to an analytics program. The companies estimate that auto-tagging can cut by as much as 75% the time required to do the manual tagging needed to implement and maintain a web analytics program.
Under current systems, a site operator generally decides up front what page elements should be tracked and then sets up the tagging to capture the data. Auto-tagging saves time by automatically tagging every element with which a user could interact on every page of a web site, giving the site operators the ability to pull an analytics report on any element, according to Pam Ravesi, senior marketing manager at ATG. Because it tags every element, auto-tagging also gives site operators greater flexibility to pull reports on new combinations of elements as the need for new kinds of reports emerges, rather than staying limited to elements tagged in the original set-up, she adds.
“The less time our customers spend on activities to obtain data, the more time they have to analyze and refine their online channels to drive more revenue,” says Cliff Conneighton, senor vice president of marketing at ATG.
Adds John Squire, vice president of business development at Coremetrics, “This alliance with ATG makes it even easier for customers to populate their LIVE profiles with detailed information about their online customers` interactions.”
Under the sales and technology alliance, the new offering will be available to existing joint customers of ATG and Coremetrics, as well as to new customers deploying ATG’s Customer Experience platform and Coremetrics` hosted analytics platform.
