Liquidity Services launches GoWholesale.com as a search portal
Liquidity Services Inc., the operator of surplus-goods auction site Liquidation.com, this week launched GoWholesale.com for retailers who prefer to find wholesalers rather than bid on excess merchandise. Although GoWholesale is not limited in the types of merchandise it will cover, it caters to smaller retailers looking for low-cost items, says Asad Haroon, general manager of GoWholesale and chief marketing officer of Liquidity Services.
GoWholesale, designed primarily as a search portal for finding wholesalers, will let sellers bid on keywords for sponsored listings. Shoppers will see search results with all sponsored listings shown before natural or unsponsored search listings. But shoppers also have the option to click a button that automatically changes the order of listings to show only the top five sponsored listings, followed by all other listings in order of content relevance, Haroon says.
GoWholesale currently has several hundred paid listings by wholesalers, but these are all through alliances GoWholesale set up with other search companies to help launch the new site. Later this summer, GoWholesale expects to begin accepting keyword bids directly from wholesalers, and it also plans to begin selling banner ads, Haroon says.
GoWholesale now offers about 80 product categories with sponsored listings, but expects that number to grow, Haroon says.
In addition, GoWholesale.com has sections on its home page that let visitors link directly to auctions at Liquidation.com and at eBay.com.
