American Eagle Outfitters expands its leadership team


American Eagle Outfitters has announced a number of promotions and an expansion of the leadership team. “This is an exciting time for American Eagle Outfitter. As we continue to grow as a corporation, it’s important that we leverage the talent of our world-class leaders across all aspects of the business, while making strategic additions to complement the existing team,” said Jim O’Donnell, chief executive officer of American Eagle Outfitters Inc.

O’Donnell’s position as CEO remains unchanged. Promotions include Susan McGalla, who has been named president and chief merchandising officer of American Eagle Outfitters Inc. Her new role includes responsibility for Martin & Osa, the company’s new sportswear concept, as well as continuing responsibility for the core AE brand and for Aerie by American Eagle. American Eagle Outfitters is No. 111 in the Internet Retailer Top 500 Guide.

New to American Eagle Outfitters is Lara Dubin Wander, who joins as president of the Martin & Osa brand. She’ll report directly to McGalla, leading the design, merchandising, marketing and operational functions for the new brand concept. She previously was president of Dana Buchman, Laundry by Shelli Segal, both divisions of Liz Claiborne Inc. Previously, she was at Victoria’s Secret Catalog as a director of merchandising, and as a buyer at J. Crew.

Henry Stafford, previously vice president and general merchandising manager of AE’s men’s business, has been promoted to senior vice president and chief merchandising officer for the AE including the men’s, women’s and accessories divisions. Betsy Schumacher has been promoted to senior ice president and chief merchandising officer for Aerie, having spearheaded the original launch of the brand. Promoted to executive vice president and chief marketing officer for American Eagle Outfitters is Kathy Savitt. In her new role, she’ll oversee multi-channel marketing and the online businesses of the company’s portfolio of brands.
