The DMA gets a new president
John A. Greco Jr. has been named new president and CEO of The Direct Marketing Association. He will take over the top spot of the trade group for catalogers and other direct marketers on Aug. 16. He will succeed H. Robert Wientzen, who is retiring after eight years as the head of the DMA.
Greco most recently was president and CEO of the 350-member Yellow Pages Integrated Media Association. Immediately prior to being named The DMA`s CEO, Greco was co-founder of Greco Enterprises LLC, a family holding company based in Watchung, NJ, that includes Greco Associates, a marketing, business development, and association management services company, and Greco Development and Construction, a real estate investment and management company.
From 1996 to 2000, Greco was a marketing executive at printing company R.R. Donnelley & Sons Co., where he held positions as senior vice president of marketing and technology and senior vice president of marketing and business development for Donnelley`s Financial Business Unit.
Greco worked for 19 years at AT&T Corp., where he held marketing and business development positions.
"John is uniquely qualified to assume the mantle of leadership at The DMA. His marketing, technological, and corporate as well as association management backgrounds made him the unanimous choice of the Executive Search Committee,” said Rebecca L. Jewett, vice chairman of Norm Thompson Outfitters Inc. and chairman of the SMA’s board. “In addition, we were impressed with his superb leadership capabilities. John brings leadership skills honed at large, complex organizations." Jewett added that while at the Yellow Pages Integrated Media Association, Greco spent 30 to 40% of his time on regulatory and legislative initiatives.
