Ask Jeeves teams with Position Tech to offer paid inclusion in Teoma

Ask Jeeves Web Properties, a division of Ask Jeeves Inc., has teamed with search strategies firm Position Technologies to offer marketers paid inclusion services in Teoma’s search index, the companies announced. The Teoma engine powers search at Ask Jeeves, Ask.com and Teoma.com, among other engines, currently reaching about 25% of web users.

The paid inclusion service ensures marketers rapid indexing for possible inclusion in search results; weekly refreshes of site content, click-through reporting and exposure to millions of web users. The agreement adds Ask Jeeves Site Submit, which facilitates submission of web pages to the Teoma index by small and medium sized businesses, to Position Tech’s Direct Submit program, which already offers Ask Jeeves’ Index Express to facilitate web page submission by large e-commerce sites.

Site Submit, introduced last spring, allows web sites with fewer than 1,000 URLs to submit their pages for inclusion in the Teoma index for an annual fee. Site submit clients also appear throughout Ask Jeeves` syndication network, which includes web sites such as HotBot, InfoSapce, and others. Site Submit is priced according to the number of URLs submitted.

“Ask Jeeves’ technology is among the web’s most widely-used search technologies. Our partnership with Position Tech enables Ask Jeeves to significantly expand our paid inclusion client base,” says Jim Lanzone, vice president of product management for Ask Jeeves.
