EVERETT, Wash. -- Jan. 18, 2005 -- Intermec Technologies Corp. today introduced the CK31, a new, rugged version of Intermec`s popular CK30 handheld computer. The CK31`s combination of Microsoft(R) Windows(R) CE .NET operating system and versatile display make it possible to run virtually any data collection application, from legacy terminal emulation to modern Web-based graphical programs, providing an easy platform for application support and development. The lightweight but rugged mobile computer is ideal for retail in-store operations and warehousing and distribution environments.

"The CK31 continues the Intermec tradition of delivering enterprise-class rugged, reliable computing devices that are ergonomically designed and deliver high performance and throughput," said Intermec Vice President Mike Colwell. "The CK31 can run proprietary legacy terminal emulation applications just as easily as new graphics-based programs, allowing companies to seamlessly migrate their technology as needed and to protect their investment."

The WPA-certified CK31 offers strong communications capabilities, incorporating a Wi-Fi(R)-certified 802.11b/g radio for maximum throughput and reliability. It supports 802.1x security standards, including Windows-standard EAP-TLS, EAP-TTLS, LEAP and PEAP for secure data transmission. The CK31 also is Cisco Certified Extension-compatible to provide the best available interoperability with existing networks.

The flexible CK31 reads all popular 1D and 2D bar code symbologies, making it ideal for any data collection application. It has a full 52-key alphanumeric keyboard for applications ranging from shipping and receiving, put-away and picking to cycle counting for the warehouse floor and a high-capacity lithium-ion battery for at least a full shift of use without recharging. Built for rugged environments, the CK31 is completely sealed to keep dust, dirt and water out and can withstand multiple four-foot drops to concrete.

Accessories include a user-installable pistol grip handle for repetitive scanning applications and a range of single or multiple-slot charging and communications docks.

The CK31 is available for order now for delivery in late Q1.
