Fashions and spring break driving web traffic, NetRatings reports


Spring fashions and spring break are driving traffic to certain web sites, Nielsen/NetRatings reports.

At-home traffic to LLBean.com jumped 66% for the week ending Feb. 23 as compared to the prior week, Nielsen/NetRatings says. The site attracted 298,000 unique visitors, of which 23% visited the Spring Sale page. Old Navy jumped 59% to 378,000 unique visitors. Rounding out the top three fastest growing apparel sites, Eddie Bauer jumped 50% from 191,000 to 287,000 unique visitors, Nielsen/NetRatings reports.

The research firm also reported that traffic to CheapTickets jumped 58% to 864,000 the same week, vs. 546,000 in the week ending Feb. 2. Next highest growth was at Continental Airlines, which surged 44% over the four-week period to 348,000.

Nielsen/NetRatings reported the following traffic (in millions) for the week ended Feb. 23 and growth among travel sites:

1. Cheap Tickets, 864, 58%
2. Continental Airlines, 348, 44%
3. American Airlines, 693, 43%
4. Usatravelpro.com, 428, 43%
5. Travelzoo, 303, 33%
6. Orbitz.com, 1,762, 29%
7. Alaska Air, 225, 27%
8. Marriott, 342, 26%
9. Internet Travel Network, 339, 26%
10. Amtrak, 258, 23%
