Online spending up 21% for week ending March 9
Online retail spending grew 21% during the week ending March 9 over the same week last year, reaching $933 million from $761 million a year ago, comScore Networks Inc. reports.
Total retail sales that week dropped 1% vs. a year ago, reports ShopperTrak’s National Retail Sales Estimate. Noting that retail sales grew every week for the first seven weeks of the year vs. last year until the beginning of this month, ShopperTrak says, "The President’s Day blizzards in the Northeast combined with the continued threat of war have served to all but negate that early growth."
Online travel sales the week ending March 9 grew 21% to $735 million vs. $607 a year earlier, comScore reports.
