Akamai Technologies Inc., whose global network of servers speeds delivery of online content for retailers and other web site operators, has reported third quarter revenue of $161.2 million, up 45% from $111.5 million in the same quarter a year ago and up 6% from Q2 2007 revenue of $152.7 million. Net income in the third quarter was $24.3 million, up 73% year over year and up 12% from the second quarter.
Cash from operations was $77.4 million in the third quarter and $171.0 million for the first nine months of the year, a 56% increase over the first three quarters of 2006.
“We were very pleased with our third quarter results and the demand we saw for our services, especially as we experienced increased momentum during September,” says Paul Sagan, president and CEO. “We saw strong growth across all of our core markets, as we continued to support our broad customer base with innovative solutions to help them realize the potential of their online businesses.”
Cambridge, MA-based Akamai reported the number of customers under long-term contracts grew 61 in the third quarter to a new high of 2,616. Sales through resellers and sales outside of the U.S. represented 18% and 23% of Q3 revenue, respectively.
