Keynote Delivers Comprehensive Service Level Management Solutions with HP Across Customers` Application Lifecycle
Keynote LoadPro Used in HP’s Newly Announced Application Readiness Program to Ensure Web Applications Are Tuned and Ready to Deploy; Channel Partnership Deepens Relationship Between the Companies
San Mateo, Calif., — January 25, 2005 — Keynote Systems (Nasdaq:KEYN), the worldwide leader in e-business performance management services, announced today an expanded relationship with HP to deliver a comprehensive service level management solution through the new HP OpenView Application Readiness Program.
Building on their existing agreement, HP will recommend Keynote’s award-winning LoadPro load testing solution as a component of its new Application Readiness Program. The program is designed to enable HP OpenView implementation partners to assist customers in the pre-deployment testing of Web applications and associated capacity planning.
This collaboration furthers application management by providing a complete solution to help customers effectively bridge the gap between development and IT operations throughout the application lifecycle.Customers can now proactively test and tune applications to deliver superior service levels and enhance overall customer satisfaction by validating that Web applications are performing better than or at expected service levels under traffic conditions that accurately represent real-world user interactions. In addition, development teams can identify bottlenecks that prevent delivery of expected service levels and resolve those bottlenecks to tune applications and deliver superior performance.
With Keynote’s highly accurate LoadPro capacity testing as part of the HP OpenView Application Readiness Program, users can proactively test and tune customers’ critical applications in pre-production staging environments to achieve enhanced service level delivery in production environments after launch and minimize any related service level exceptions. By leveraging Keynote’s load testing solution, HP OpenView effectively extends its application management solution portfolio, which adds management throughout the application lifecycle to provide successful application deployment and ongoing operations, improve end-user experience, and align Web application infrastructure with business goals.
By aligning applications with customer performance expectations and industry benchmarks, customers can gain confidence that their application launch will go smoothly and that post-launch performance issues will be reduced. Customers can achieve ongoing service level delivery with Keynote Application Perspective for HP OpenView, maintain customer satisfaction ratios and utilize IT resources to better support strategic business initiatives.
“Improving the financial performance of e-business requires ongoing maintenance of customer satisfaction levels as well as ongoing tuning of Web application performance,” said Arnold Waldstein, vice president of marketing and business development for Keynote. “With this joint solution from Keynote and HP, customers can expand upon the existing Keynote Application Perspective for HP OpenView solution, and further enhance customer satisfaction by verifying that an application is truly ready for deployment, while leveraging Keynote’s cost-effective services to manage cost and improve resource utilization. With this joint solution, operations teams can now feel confident about their ability to support users driven from marketing programs for new business services, and align their efforts with the business goals of customer retention and revenue growth.”
“Companies are using the J2EE and .NET platforms extensively to build critical applications to maintain and grow revenue from existing customers, as well as to increase their competitive advantage. While development cycles for such applications shrink, we see a growing complexity amidst these applications and a mounting pressure to deliver quality functionality and superior performance,” said David Gee, vice president of worldwide marketing, software, technology solutions group, HP. “Making LoadPro a key component of the new HP OpenView Application Readiness Program is an important step in addressing that challenge for our customers. Moreover, offering this solution as an outsourced service through our partners – industry leaders and experts in the service level management space – will allow customers to manage their cost structures while preparing applications for prime-time.”
How LoadPro works with the HP OpenView Application Readiness Program
As part of the HP OpenView Application Readiness Program, Keynote LoadPro provides application development and operations managers with the industry’s most comprehensive, real-world load testing solution. Keynote LoadPro Inside provides unparalleled accuracy and realism in replicating user traffic patterns within the application infrastructure to evaluate whether the application logic and underlying server interactions are ready for prime-time launch. While LoadPro creates the expected user traffic patterns, HP OpenView Transaction Analyzer analyzes specific back-end application components resulting from LoadPro-generated user-application interactions. Whether it is Java Servlets, Enterprise Java Beans, COM+ objects, or specific database queries that need to be optimized, Transaction Analyzer provides specific tuning recommendations to enhance the user experience as measured by LoadPro.
Following the assessment within the application infrastructure, customers can use Keynote LoadPro Outside advanced option to factor in Internet latency and accurately assess service levels as perceived by end-users across different geographies that represent the end-user base. With LoadPro Outside, customers can verify that applications are tuned and optimized to have a net positive impact on the distributed end user base that ultimately determine the success of an application following deployment.
Unlike other load testing tools that assume users arrive in fixed, predictable patterns, Keynote LoadPro is the only service to factor in both the dynamic behavior of end users as well as the unpredictable nature of the Internet allowing customers to confidently prepare their Web infrastructure for whatever traffic storms might occur. Only Keynote – The Internet Performance Authority® – can accurately replicate end user interactions with an application, incorporating factors such as tolerance, tenacity and Web-site familiarity, so customers can tune applications within the context of actual user behavior, and position applications for successful service level delivery post-deployment.
