Mountain Hardwear improves order flexibility for its retailers

With a growing base of retailers who have different operating systems and preferences, Mountain Hardwear, a manufacturer of outdoor clothing and gear, has implemented a web-based supply chain and inventory management system to provide more flexibility in the way it can process orders from different retailers.

Mountain Hardware, which sells through retailers including REI Inc. and Galyan's Trading Co., has deployed web-based supply chain execution software from V3 Systems Inc. Tim Metz, Mountain Hardwear's IT manager, says he chose the web-based system because it makes it easier and faster to process orders for a growing number of products from multiple retailers. A key advantage of the system, he says, is that it easily accommodates different business processes that multiple trading partners follow, such as the different ways they prefer to route purchase orders.

"It will allow us to increase order processing velocity and inventory accuracy while we continue to provide excellent service to our customers," he says. "Those benefits, combined with a 90-day deployment, will translate quickly into a measurable return on our investment."
