Apple leads in visitors to computer sites, Nielsen/NetRatings reports


Apple Computer Inc. led online computer hardware sellers in unique visitors for the week ended July 18, Nielsen/NetRatings reports. Apple hosted 3.9 million unique visitors that week, followed by Dell Inc., with 2.9 million.

The top computer hardware sites by visitors, with their number of unique visitors (in millions) and average stay per person, were:

Apple, 3.9, 0:08:17
Dell, 2.9, 0:06:32
Hewlett Packard, 2.5, 0:11:42
Gateway, 0.356, 0:10:31
Sun Microsystems, 0.280, 0:01:58
eMachines, 0.267, 0:02:42
IBM, 0.265, 0:18:47

The category remains skewed toward male visitors, who made up 55% of the audience. 55% of visitors had annual incomes of $25,000-$74,999. They also tend to be older, with 73% of visitors age 45 or older.

The Top 10 retail goods and services segments among online advertisers by impressions (in millions) for the week ending July 18, were:
