360Commerce Maintains Lead in Number of Hardware/OS Combinations Offered
Austin, Texas (January 7, 2003) – 360Commerce, a leading provider of integrated commerce software for retailers, announced today that their store optimization software is now running on IBM’s SurePOS™ 600. The combination of 360Store™ software and the SurePOS 600 will be available for demonstration at the upcoming National Retail Federation (NRF) Conference, January 12-14, 2003, at the 360Commerce station in the ARTS pavillion #571.
Adding the SurePOS 600 to existing hardware options, including IBM SurePOS 300, 500, and 750 series, IBM 4694, Wincor Nixdorf Beetle /M and /S, UTC UT810-i, and Fujitsu TeamPoS 5000 and 2000 provides 360Commerce customers with freedom-of-choice and the ability to leverage existing assets to help minimize costs. 360Commerce applications can run on JVM-enabled operating systems including Windows 9x, Windows NT, Windows 2000, Linux, Solaris, Mac OS, IBM 4690, OS/400, OS/2, AIX, and other versions of UNIX. 360Commerce can still demonstrate more hardware and operating system choices than any other store solutions vendor to date.
Retailers know they need to move to new point-of-sale software to gain the operational efficiencies of a real-time enterprise and take advantage of customer-pleasing functionality like the ability to place orders on the web and pick them up in the store. The cost of replacing all their POS hardware in one fell swoop however is expensive, causing some retailers to defer that much-needed software replacement. “We continue to expand the number of platforms on which our Java-based software runs so retailers can phase in new, more cost-effective technology while leveraging their older hardware, peripherals and operating systems wherever possible,” said Christine Lowry, chief marketing officer at 360Commerce. “Because this reduces the hardware costs of the project, retailers are able to implement and realize the benefits of their next-generation web-enabled store solution sooner.”
