Q4 Internet sales at eGames rise 20% as total sales decline 8%

Though still a tiny part of its sales, the web accounted for the only increase in sales at eGames Inc. for the fourth quarter ended June 30, rising 20% year-over-year to $54,000 from $45,000, as total sales fell 8% to $1.72 million from $1.88 million, eGames said today.

Sales at the company’s eGames.com accounted for 3% of total sales for the quarter as well as for the full year ended June 30, rising slightly from year-earlier percentages, when full-year web sales were 2.75% of total sales. Full-year web sales at eGames accounted for $246,000 out of a total $8 million, rising 24% from a year earlier, when web sales accounted for $199,000 out of $7.2 million.

The $47,000 year-to-year increase in web sales for the full year was accompanied by a $397,000 decrease in direct sales to software retailers.

EGames sells through several distribution channels, its largest being software distributors, which produced $6.5 million sales for the 12 months ended June 30, or 81% of total sales of $8 million. Software distributor sales rose 31% for the year, the only channel other than the web to show an increase.

The next largest channel is software retailers, which produced 8% of sales for the year, followed by direct licensees, 5%, web sales at 3% and liquidators at 2%.
