Re-seller agreement with Retail Decisions broadens PayPal’s reach

PayPal, which is making a move to broaden its market as a payment option beyond its initial eBay.com audience, has reached an agreement with Retail Decisions to sell PayPal to online merchants. Retail Decisions is the second acquirer to reach such a deal with PayPal. CyberSource Corp. agreed last year to be a PayPal distributor.

Under the agreement, PayPal will be available through Retail Decisions’ enterprise payment gateway software, LiveProcessor, as well as through its fully managed, international ReD1 Gateway service. This will make PayPal available to all of Retail Decisions’ online merchants worldwide. Retail Decisions’ payment processing customers include WalMart.com, Buy.com, Netflix.com and Travelocity.com.

PayPal is selling its services through payments processors such as Retail Decisions and CyberSource and through a direct sales force of its own.

Todd Pearson, general manager of merchant services, says PayPal is in serious talks with 60-70 merchants.
