Kate Spade, the designer of fashion handbags, eyeware, shoes, stationery and other products, plans to go live in November with an e-commerce site powered by GSI Commerce Inc. It’s also expanding its number of stores from 12 to more than nearly 30 by the end of next year.
GSI will convert Kate Spade’s existing informational site, KateSpade.com, to a retail e-commerce site offering all of the brand’s products. Kate Spade also sells its own brand of beauty products and recently introduced lines of tabletop, bedding and bath products.
"Opening new stores and developing our online presence is a natural move for us, and creatively it allows us the opportunity to showcase the Kate Spade world to the entire U.S.," said Andy Spade, CEO and creative director.
Kate Spade opened its first retail shop in New York in 1996.
