ShopNBC.com’s revenue rises 20% in Q2 from year ago
Internet sales at ValueVision Media’s ShopNBC reached $31 million, up 20% over Q2 last year, the company reports. Total sales were $161.5 million, up 12% over second quarter a year ago. The company’s net loss in the quarter was $8 million. The web site represents 19% of total revenue, up from 18% a year earlier.
ShopNBC, , No. 58 in Internet Retailer`s Top 300 Guide to online retailers, also reports that new customers increased by 33% and units sold grew by 36% over last year’s second quarter. Average price of an item bought was $186, down 21% from Q2 last year.
ValueVision on Monday launched a redesigned ShopNBC Television Network. ”The new look for the shopping network incorporates a state-of-the-art television communication redesign with graphic and sound elements choreographed to present product offers more clearly and effectively,” ValueVision said in its earnings release. “This includes a higher level of aesthetic appeal, such as a new tower, original music, a coming-up menu, catchy promotional packages, and topical transition segments.”
