Q2 Internet sales rise 9.8% year-to-year at Coldwater Creek
E-commerce net sales at women’s apparel, jewelry and accessories retailer Coldwater Creek Inc. rose 9.8% to $26 million in the second quarter ended July 31, from $23.6 million in the year ago period, the company said. For the first half, e-commerce net sales rose 2.2 % year-over-year, to $60.9 million from $59.6 million.
By comparison, total Q2 net sales rose 15.1% to $111.2 million from $96.7 million in the year-ago period, and total net sales in the first half rose 11.2% to $235.7 million.
Q2 e-commerce sales rose as a percentage of combined Internet and catalog sales, to 52% from 42.5% a year ago, as Coldwater Creek cut its catalog circulation by 32%.
But e-commerce sales declined slightly as a percentage of total sales, to 23.3% from 24.5% a year ago. Coldwater Creek said it expects its retail stores to account for an increasingly larger share of total sales as it expands its number of stores. It had 89 stores at the end of Q2 and expects to have 115 open by this year’s holiday shopping season.
