Lawson Signs Multi-Suite Contract with Mervyns

Retailer Will Use Lawson Applications to Replace Business System On An Accelerated Implementation Timeframe

ST. PAUL, Minn.--Oct. 10, 2005--Lawson Software (Nasdaq:LWSN) signed a multi-suite contract with Mervyns LLC in Lawson`s first quarter of fiscal 2006, which ended Aug. 31, 2005. The company licensed the Lawson Financials, Procurement, Budgeting and Planning, and Reporting suites to replace business applications it currently uses under former company ownership.

Headquartered in Hayward, Calif., Mervyns is a promotional neighborhood department store offering apparel and home decor. With more than 250 locations in 13 states, the company carries an extensive selection of national and private-label fashions and housewares.

"After Mervyns became an independent company in September of 2004, we needed to develop our own set of core business and retail systems. We looked for a vendor that could provide a comprehensive set of applications and implement them in less than a year," said Kurt Streitz, Mervyns` senior vice president and chief information officer. "We chose Lawson`s Financials Suite because of its proven reputation for on-time, on budget implementations, rich functionality and low total cost of ownership."

Mervyns plans to complete its implementation of the new Lawson applications by August 2006. Specifically, Mervyns will use the comprehensive system to provide executives with greater visibility into organization-wide data to support more timely decision-making. The new system also will enable Mervyns to enhance its reporting capabilities and boost operational efficiency across its core administrative functions.

"In general, Lawson applications take less time to implement than those of other ERP vendors, which helps clients reduce implementation costs and accelerate their time-to-benefit," said Michelle Schooff, industry marketing director - Retail, Lawson Software. "This is especially critical for retailers who face intense pressure to sustain net profitability in a market crowded with big-box and discount competitors."

Lawson`s industry-focused software solutions help retailers integrate the systems they use to run and grow their businesses. Lawson customers include five of the top 10 U.S.-based retailers, eight of the top 20 apparel retailers, seven of the top 25 grocery chains, 23 of the top 100 restaurant chains and 20 of the top 100 specialty chains.
