Online sales grew 23% for week ending Aug. 15, comScore reports
Online retail spending grew 23% for the week ending Aug. 15 from the corresponding week a year earlier, reaching $1.16 billion from $942 million, comScore Networks Inc. reports. It was the fifth week in a row and the 28th week out of 32 weeks so far this year that online sales have exceeded $1 billion. Last year by this time, only two weeks had exceeded $1 billion in sales.
Total retail sales for the week ending Aug. 14 rose 5.6% from the same week a year ago, reports ShopperTrak’s National Retail Sales Estimate.
Online travel sales for the week ending Aug. 15 were up 15% from a year earlier, reaching $991 million from $861 million.
