Amazon partners with top travel service providers to offer new travel store

Amazon is becoming more like a department store. Just as department stores offer travel services, so is Amazon.

Amazon.com today launched a one-stop travel solutions site featuring a new travel store that offers booking services and travel status information from online travel service provider Expedia.com. The new Amazon store also features discounted travel through Hotwire, cruise vacations through National Leisure Group’s Vacation Store, and travel-related merchandise from Amazon.com stores.

Amazon customers will be able to access Expedia’s Travel Disruption Resource Center, which offers airline and airport updates, information on check-in procedures, advisories and other data for travelers affected by changes in the current travel environment. Through its partnerships, the Travel store also offers deals and discounts on travel, hotels, and rental cars, as well as access to thousands of travel-related products available on Amazon.com. Featured products from Amazon.com stores include merchandise for people traveling with children, consumer electronic equipment that supports the traveler`s needs, books, language and travel software and more.

“We’ve taken the hassle out of searching for travel-related products by building the Travel store, where customers can find, discover and buy any travel-related product they need,” says David Risher, senior vice president of marketing and merchandising at Amazon.com.
