Digital entertainment market launches two more web sites

IGN Entertainment launches Digital2Drive.com as a retail video game digital download store targeting the 20.2 million users of its online video gaming sites. Music producer Grand Entertainment & Music Inc. plans to launch next month its own digital music site.

Digital2Drive will start out offering more than 25 PC games from publishers including Atari, Sony Online Entertainment, Funcom and Turbine. Game prices range from $9.99 to $39.99. The site uses ActiveMark technology from Trymedia Systems for transmission security.

Digital2Drive will also serve as the retail site for all of IGN’s online video gaming sites, which include IGN.com, GameSpy.com, FilePlanet, TeamXbox and Rotten Tomatoes. Brisbane, CA-based IGN’s Internet properties collectively recorded 20.2 million users in July, according to comScore Media Metrix.

Montreal-based Grand Entertainment has retained Sygenics Corp. to develop its new digital music site on Microsoft’s .Net platform. It plans to sell its own music productions as well as music from other companies.
