Kohl’s keeps on revving up its e-commerce engine
Kohl’s Corp. is connecting with its online shoppers.
In the second quarter, Kohl’s is reporting e-commerce sales of $48.9 million, an increase of 60% from web sales of $30.5 million in Q2 2006.
For the first six months of the year, Kohls.com also posted a 70% increase in web sales to $101.3 million from $59.6 million in the prior year. For the second quarter, Kohl’s, No. 219 in the Internet Retailer Top 500 Guide, posted net income of $269.2 million on sales of $3.6 billion. Same store sales rose by 1.3%.
Kohl’s has also redesigned its web site. Though the site was offline for the better part of a week, the new Kohls.com features a cleaner layout and bigger graphics. Kohl’s also updated its web site with enhanced site search that enables customers to search by size, color, brand and price, more rich media – including zoom features – and a streamlined shopping cart.
To drive traffic to its redesigned site, Kohl’s is offering free shipping on online orders of more than $25. The upgrades will make it easier for shoppers to navigate the site and locate merchandise, the retailer says. In March the company chose Allurent Inc.’s Rich Commerce Suite as its new e-commerce engine.
