CyberSource Payment Manager 5.0 Delivers Unique Access to Payment Network

New CyberSource Connect option provides fast, triple redundant connection to wide array of payment processors

MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif. – February 18, 2003 – CyberSource Corporation (NASDAQ: CYBS), a leading provider of electronic payment and risk management solutions, today announced the launch of Version 5.0 of its payment processing software, CyberSource Payment Manager (CPM). A key new feature of CPM 5.0, called CyberSource Connect, allows merchants to communicate with payment processors via an extremely reliable, high-speed managed service from CyberSource, for less than the cost of dedicated frame relay connections. CyberSource Connect leverages the comprehensive infrastructure the company originally developed for users of its outsourced payment service offering.

“Over the last six years, CyberSource has built a world class communications network for our hosted payment service,” said Tracy Wilk, vice-president of product management. “CyberSource Connect is a managed service that allows users of CyberSource Payment Manager to take advantage of that infrastructure. Traditional modem users will get much faster connectivity; traditional frame relay users will get faster implementation and lower costs; and all users will experience outstanding reliability due to the multiple levels of redundancy that are core to our systems.”

CyberSource Connect
CPM 5.0 solves a long-standing problem for merchants—the connection to the payment processor. Until now, payment software users (companies that choose to manage transaction systems in-house rather than have them outsourced) have had to choose between inexpensive but slow and unreliable dial-up modem connections, or expensive and complex frame relay connections to payment processors. CyberSource Connect, a new option with CPM 5.0, provides an answer. Now users of the packaged software can employ their standard Internet connection to tap in to CyberSource’s state-of-the-art, triple redundant, high-speed connectivity to a complete spectrum of payment processors. The CyberSource communications architecture includes redundant front-end connections to the Internet, redundant data centers, and redundant back-end connections to multiple processors. Installation of CyberSource Connect is virtually immediate vs. 60-90 days for installation of frame relays. Once installed, the connection to the processor is managed 24x7, so the merchant does not have to incur the cost of managing or troubleshooting.

Note: Companies that purchase new licenses of CPM 5.0 prior to March 31, 2003 will receive the CyberSource Connect service free through December 31, 2003.

Other new features of 5.0
Support for new payment types, sales channels, industries—CPM 5.0 supports corporate purchasing cards, retail point-of-sale transactions, and car rental and hotel industry specific requirements. New controls against credit card fraud—CPM 5.0 now supports the latest credit card fraud control tools on most of its processor gateways, including Verified by Visa, Address Verification Service, and Card Verification Value II.

New business integration features-- CPM 5.0 allows users to monitor, in real-time, the progress of their batch settlements, providing better visibility into the settlement process. It also allows more flexibility, by giving users the option of settling batches for all its customers and processor gateways, or for smaller groups of those customers.

CyberSource Payment Manager
CyberSource Payment Manager is a powerful, high-volume, transaction processing solution for organizations that want to manage payment systems in-house. It is designed to help user organizations capture and keep more revenue, and minimize the cost and complexity of payment operations. This scalable payment processing software platform operates behind the scenes to authorize and settle payments originating from one or many sales channels. It comes with the core processing logic and tools required to manage payment operations. Ready-to-use connections link CPM to the payment network, and pre-built and custom integration components integrate payment capabilities with business systems. Once installed, CPM receives transaction requests from the user’s commerce platform, contact center, point-of-sale system, or back office system. It then routes those requests to the payment network for authorization and returns the results to the user’s business systems.

CPM supports a broad array of electronic payment types and transaction environments, including: Payment types
§ Consumer cards (level 1)
§ Corporate cards (level 2)
§ Procurement cards (level 3)
§ Private label cards
§ Debit cards
§ Electronic checks
§ ACH

Transaction environments
§ Card-not-present
§ Retail point of sale
§ Car rental
§ Hotel services

CPM 5.0 offers a complete menu of risk management tools. Address Verification Service, Card Verification Number, and Mod 10 check are built in. Optional, ready-to-integrate solutions include: CyberSource Payer Authentication Service which provides access to both Verified by Visa and MasterCard SecureCode authentication programs through a single, convenient connection; CyberSource Advanced Fraud Screen enhanced by Visa for risk scoring; and CyberSource Risk Manager, a rule builder and automated decisioning system.

CPM 5.0 integrates into leading front-end and back-office systems including Aspect, Avaya, IBM Websphere, Microsoft Commerce Server, Microsoft Great Plains, SAP and Siebel. CyberSource Payment Manger (and associated professional service options) also supplies the tools and resources to successfully integrate and automate payment operations with user business processes, including workflow, reporting, analysis and reconciliation.

The system supports up to 50,000 transactions per hour on a single server, and additional servers can be operated in tandem to increase capacity while still acting as a single payment system. CPM 5.0 supports Secure Sockets Layer to encrypt transmissions. Card and account numbers stored in the transaction database can also be encrypted. CPM’s database establishes a complete record of each step of every transaction. In the event of a database outage, built-in recovery processes help ensure completion of in-flight transactions and provide required audit trails.
