GNC rolls out web-based training and information system for franchisees
Franchisees of General Nutrition Centers, the largest specialty retailer of nutritional supplements, can now receive online training and product information from headquarters over the web and customize their own web sites.
Pittsburgh-based GNC unveiled enhancements to its existing Genesis web program today, including:
-- Accessing training modules.
-- Retrieving updated information on products, marketing and business operations.
--Participating in online business-building sessions with other franchisees and GNC franchise support personnel.
-- Gaining instant access to information on product ingredients and other selling aids.
-- Accessing customer profiles.
The changes also permit franchisees to enhance their web sites by:
-- Creating a map of their location with driving directions.
-- Marketing directly to visitors who sign up at the site.
-- Designing and posting printable coupons.
-- Announcing product promotions.
-- Taking customer orders online for store pickup.
"Providing our franchisees with access to innovative and cutting-edge technology is just another example of how GNC is committed to supporting them in building their businesses,” said Russell L. Cooper, GNC franchising senior vice president and general manager. "This upgrade to our Genesis system, one of the first franchisee intranets introduced by a franchisor, applies the power of the Internet to their training and marketing needs - with powerful, easy-to-use and low-cost features."
GNC operates more than 4,500 retail outlets in the U.S. and 29 foreign markets. GNC is a wholly owned subsidiary of The Netherlands-based Royal Numico N.V.
