Netflix opens three more distribution centers
Netflix Inc., the online movie rental company, has opened up three more shipping centers. They are in Pittsburgh, PA, Baton Rouge, LA and Columbia, SC and will serve more than 5 million households in Pennsylvania, Louisiana, South Carolina and Mississippi.
Netflix, No. 30 on Internet Retailer`s Top 300 Guide to Online Retailers, says it can now reach more than 85% of its customers with one business-day delivery. The opening of the three centers brings Netflix’s distribution centers to 29.
Netflix charges $21.99 a month for unlimited movie rentals on DVD, with customers allowed to have three movies out at any time. Five-year-old Netflx says it expects to have 5 million customers and $1 billion in revenue by 2006. It offers 25,000 DVD titles. "The convenience of overnight delivery is essential to our success," said Reed Hastings, Netflix CEO and co-founder.
