Technology company Multimedia Live adds 2 high-profile board members

E-commerce technology developer Multimedia Live has added two high profile executives to its Board of Directors. Toby Lenk, president of Gap Inc. Direct and founder of eToys.com, a high-profile online retailer from the dot-com era, and Betsey Nelson, executive vice president, chief financial officer, and secretary of Macromedia Inc., which provides imaging software for many retail web sites, have joined Multimedia Live’s board.

Lenk is responsible for the direction and management of the online businesses for Gap, Banana Republic and Old Navy. He also oversees the company`s customer call centers and online distribution operations located near Columbus, OH. Before starting eToys in 1997, Lenk was vice president of corporate strategic planning for The Walt Disney Co.

Nelson joined Macromedia in 1996, and has been CFO since 1997. She is responsible for corporate development, investor relations, finance, human resources, legal, information technology, operations and real estate. Before joining Macromedia, Nelson spent eight years at Hewlett-Packard, where she held positions in finance and corporate development

"This is a major strategic step for the company, and signals a new and important phase in our growth,” says Multimedia Live founder, president, and CEO Ken Burke. “We have a clear vision of the direction we want to take our MarketLive product, and top-notch leadership like this will help us get it there."

"I was impressed with Multimedia Live`s MarketLive technology, and how well it caters to both the strategic and the day-to-day needs of small to mid-market online merchandisers," said Lenk. "This segment of the online world needs an application like this.”

Multimedia Live says recent rapid growth was spurred by a significant investment from Sequoia Capital late last year. Other board members are Burke and Sameer Gandhi of Sequoia Capital.
