Amazon U.K. enters the wine business
Amazon.co.uk and Virgin Wines have launched a Wine Store at Amazon.co.uk. The co-branded Amazon.co.uk Wine Store will offer hundreds of wines and champagnes from around the world. The site will offer a tool to assist with selections, as well as customer and expert reviews.
Virgin Wines will be responsible for stocking, selling and delivering wine to Amazon customers.
Rowan Gormley, CEO of Virgin Wines, said, “This alliance is a huge vote of confidence in the future of e-commerce. Wine, like books and music, really benefits from the information-rich environment of the internet.”
Virgin Wines has shipped more than 1.8 million bottles since its launch in June 2000. It currently stocks over 8,500 wines from around the world.
