Apple leads computer sites, Nielsen/NetRatings reports


Apple Computer Inc.’s Apple.com was the leading site for hardware retailers by unique audience for the week ending Sept. 12 with 4.6 million unique visitors, Nielsen/NetRatings reports. The top sites were:
Apple, 4.6 million
Dell, 2.75 million
Hewlett-Packard, 1.66 million
Sun Microsystems, 413,000
eMachines, 343,000
Gateway, 322,000

The computer category still skews slightly male, with 55% of visitors being men. 44.5% of the audience is 45 or older and 32% are 35-49. By household income, the audience is pretty well spread out, with 27% having incomes of $25,000 to $49,999; 27.5%, $50,000 to $74,999; and 13.5%, $100,000 to $149,999,

For the week ending Sept. 12, the Books, Movies & Music category of the Retail Goods & Services segment had the most online ad impressions, with 665.6 million. The top 10 and their impressions (in millions) were:
