YANTRA 5x DELIVERS UNPRECEDENTED SCALABILITY IN EXECUTING ORDER FULFILLMENT PROCESSES

Benchmark Tests Simulate 24-hour Retail Clock and Unique Order Fulfillment Processes such as Audio and Ring Tone Downloads

TEWKSBURY, MASS – October 6, 2003 – Yantra Corporation (www.yantra.com), the leading provider of solutions for Fulfillment Excellence, today announced unprecedented benchmark results from performance tests conducted on its Yantra 5x products. In a range of tests sponsored by Best Buy, North America’s leading specialty retailer of consumer electronics, personal computers, entertainment software and appliances, to simulate an actual retail environment, Yantra 5x delivered unparalleled performance in processing order fulfillment transactions. The results of the benchmark prove that Yantra 5x is the most scalable order fulfillment solution available today.

The Yantra 5x applications were tested against several order fulfillment scenarios simulating actual retail transactions that take place in a 24-hour period. Performance tests simulated the period before a store opens; peak traffic period during a typical day and the processing that takes place after a store closes. An additional scenario was created to simulate order volume on the busiest shopping day of the year, the day following the Thanksgiving holiday. Each operational scenario simulated high-volume, complex fulfillment processes that involve disparate internal business units and multiple external partners, and requiring real-time event monitoring and management. The key benchmarks include the processing of more than 2.9 million order-related business transactions per hour; 1.4 million Available to Promise (ATP) queries per hour; and more than 787,000 created order lines per hour uploaded from a store-based point-of-sale (POS) system.

“Quality is critical to our success at Best Buy; our customers expect the highest level of service whether they shop online or in our stores,” said Bob Adkinson, vice president of Information System Operations at Best Buy. “Yantra performed exceptionally well in these demanding tests and proved that its applications live up to our standards.”

The results of the order fulfillment scenarios simulated during the performance benchmark include:
• Over 2.9 million order-related business transactions per hour – Yantra 5x processed a total of more than 2.9 million order-related business transactions in a single hour. The transactions included ATP queries, inventory adjustments and shipment confirmations. During this test, Yantra demonstrated its ability to manage multiple, concurrent processes that are required to prepare for a store’s opening.
• Over 1.4 million ATP queries per hour – Yantra 5x processed more than 1.4 million ATP queries per hour while managing the complete lifecycle of a complex, multi-line order transaction including: order creation, inventory adjustment (allocation and release), dynamic sourcing, event management and alerts, and shipment confirmations. This test demonstrates Yantra’s ability to manage extremely high volumes of customer facing transactions.
• Over 787,000 create order lines per hour from a store based POS system – Yantra 5x processed the creation of more than 787,000 order lines uploaded from a store-based POS system. This test demonstrates Yantra’s ability to consolidate orders from multiple order management systems across the enterprise.
• Unique fulfillment processes – Yantra 5x was also tested against unique fulfillment requirements such as audio and 3G ring tone downloads. Yantra proved that it could manage a high volume of orders, regardless of type, processing more than 300,000 orders per hour.

“Unlike other benchmark tests where vendors create an environment designed to yield the biggest numbers possible, we modeled our tests to simulate real-world scenarios that our customers experience every day,” said Janice Scanzio, VP of Quality at Yantra. “Yantra’s solution delivered staggering numbers for complex business processes.”

The performance tests, conducted at HP’s Americas Solutions Center in Cupertino, Calif., replicated a full workload production schedule where orders were completely fulfilled, exceptions raised, along with a high volume of order queries and status running concurrently. The tests were performed using HP-UX Release 11i, Oracle Database, with more than 2 billion database records, and BEA WebLogic application servers. The hardware platform consisted of an HP Superdome with 32 PA-8700 processors as the database server, and HP 9000 rp7410 HP-UX servers for the mid-tier.

HP’s Americas Solutions Center is one of a network of more than 80 HP centers worldwide that provide customers and partners such as Yantra and Best Buy with a secure environment to test and validate solutions, including benchmarking, performance testing and capacity planning.

“The tests, conducted at HP’s Americas Solutions Center, illustrate Yantra’s commitment to leadership in managing critical retail customer fulfillment processes and demonstrates the industry leading performance of HP’s Unix servers across diverse workload environments,” said Leigh Morrison, vice president, U.S. Retail Industry Sales and Solutions, HP Enterprise Systems Group. “As a retail solutions partner and provider to thousands of retailers, HP understands the needs and challenges to deliver tested and proven solutions to retailers.”

Steve Aulds, senior vice president of Research and Development at Yantra, added, “As companies become more innovative in the ways that they conduct business with customers and partners, they have to be able to trust that their software is going to stand up to the rigors of these new processes. Yantra 5x builds on our strong legacy of proven solutions that exceed our customers’ expectations in terms of performance and scalability.”
