Increased traffic at 8 of top 10 hardware manufacturer sites in July
Traffic increased at eight of the top 10 online hardware manufacturer sites in July, with five experiencing double-digit increases, according to Nielsen/NetRatings. Sun Microsystems led the group, with visits increasing 85% to 3.7 million from 2 million in July 2005.
Nintendo had the second largest increase, with visits rising 59% to 1.2 million in July from 753,000 a year earlier; followed by Apple, up 45% to 35.9 million from 24.8 million; Linksys, up 44% to 1.47 million from 1.02 million; Hewlett Packard, up 12% to 13.4 million from 12 million; Dell, up 6% to 16.9 million from 15.9 million; Epson, up 4% to 1.28 million from 1.23 million; and Intel, up 1% to 1.27 million from 1.26 million.
Traffic dropped at two sites: Gateway, where visits dropped 10% to 1.8 million from 2 million; and IBM, where visits fell 5% to 2.1 million from 2.2 million.
The top site in number of visits was Apple, followed by Dell, Hewlett Packard, Sun Microsystems, IBM, Gateway, Linksys, Epson, Intel, and Nintendo.
In the top 10 hardware manufacturers sites ranked by time per visit were Apple, 1 hour, 6 minutes, 52 seconds; Dell, 18 minutes, 1 second; IBM, 17 minutes, 52 seconds; ATI, 13 minutes, 57 seconds; Intel, 13 minutes, 4 seconds; eMachines, 12 minutes, 32 seconds; Cisco Systems, 12 minutes, 17 seconds; Xbox, 11 minutes, 29 seconds; Hewlett Packard, 11 minutes, 12 seconds; and Creative, 11 minutes.
Also in July, the books, movies and music industry segment had the most online ad impressions among the top retail goods and services industries, according to Nielsen’s AdRelevance report. The leading segments in the report and their number of impressions (in millions):
