Harry and David gears up for a spike in shipping gifts overseas
Harry and David, web and catalog retailer of gourmet food products, has posted information to its site about overseas shipping of food products, including APO and FPO information, in response to a 25% increase in consumer inquires related to international shipping. The company said it is also getting questions about what gifts are appropriate to send to soldiers and when and how to ship the items.
"Based on our phone and web inquires, customers are telling us they are looking for Americana gifts, that they know can be shipped great distances and will remind them of home," says Nancy L. Tait, president and CEO of Harry and David, which ships to over 100 countries around the world. "Many customers are looking for American-made products that also can be shared with others."
Tait says Harry and David`s miniature living Christmas tree and its Tower of Treats are popular items this year. The company is also offering for the first time retail-quality greeting cards that can be included with many gifts.
