RetailTech magazine shuts down
Bill Communications Inc., a division of The Netherlands-based publisher VNU nv, has closed down its RetailTech magazine. The announcement came to staff on Monday and all staffers were laid off then, says a spokeswoman for Bill Communications. The October issue was RetailTech’s last, she says.
RetailTech had recently laid off its long-time editor Bruce Fox, who had suffered a serious illness in the past year.
RetailTech started life as RT Magazine in 1997. It ventured into an e-retailing magazine for a short period, but quickly exited that when dot-coms fell out of favor with Wall Street. It also sponsored an e-retailing conference, which it also closed down.
