BestBuy.com seeks to become the entertainment content king

Taking the approach that the more information a shopper has the more likely that shopper is to buy, Minneapolis-based BestBuy.com, the Internet arm of Best Buy Co. Inc., has launched Best Buy Entertainment that provides content to visitors to the web stores.

BestBuy.com has agreements with:
--CNET Networks for reviews, news, buying guides and more for computer hardware, software and video games.
--RollingStone.com for music news, album reviews, videos and photos.
--Billboard Online and The Hollywood Reporter for national sales charts, news and reviews of movies and music.
--Hollywood Media Corp. for movie news and information.
--NetRadio Corp.: for a co-branded customized Internet radio feature.
--Netflix for a co-branded online DVD rental service. Netflix has more than 300,000 subscribers and a library of virtually every DVD published - more than 10,000 titles.
--ScreamingMedia Inc. for entertainment news.
--IGN.com for game news, reviews, previews, interviews, tips & hints, and feature stories on both PC and console games.
--Gamespy.com for PC gaming information.

BestBuy.com also contracted with divine Inc. to provide branding and technology services and Zamba Solutions for program oversight and content management expertise.

"BestBuy.com has leveraged our internal resources by adding content and features provided by companies that are leaders in their respective areas," said Scott Young, vice president of Entertainment for BestBuy.com. "These relationships help ensure Best Buy Entertainment is a rich and credible source for entertainment information and interactive services."
