StarStyle.com marries TV shows and online shopping
Entertainment Media Works LLC is leveraging partnerships with TV content providers and retailers including Macy’s and Best Buy to let shoppers buy items seen on TV shows at the recently launched StarStyle.com.
“For consumers StarStyle is like a department store for their favorite TV shows and films, but without having to leave the house,” said Entertainment Media Works chairman Jim Rosenfield, a former president of the CBS television network.
Entertainment Media Works deals with Hollywood studios, TV networks, TV production companies and program set designers to identify apparel, furniture and other items seen on TV shows that can be purchased directly from online retailers through links on StarStyle.com.
Participating merchants include Apple iTunes, Neiman Marcus, Nordstrom, Macy’s, Bluefly.com, Zappos.com, American Eagle Outfitters, Bombay Co., Brooks Brothers, Gap, Barnes and Noble, and Best Buy.
TV content providers working with Entertainment Media Works include Sony, Warner Bros. and ABC.
StarStyle.com lets visitors search for products by TV show or product category to begin shopping, then drill down to particular episodes and characters. The site also offers content related to news about TV shows and fashions, plus podcasts featuring interviews with fashion experts.
StarStyle is headed by CEO Ashley Heather, founder of MusiKube/411Song.com, which has worked with music retailers including Virgin Megastores. Its directors include James Kinsey, the founding CEO of AOL; Marvin Traub, former chairman of Bloomingdale’s; and Bob Schwartz, founder and former general manager of Nordstrom.com.
