LOS ANGELES -- March 7, 2003 -- On February 4, 2003, the United States Patent and Trademark Office issued U.S. Patent No. 6,516,311 B1 entitled "Method For
Linking On The Internet With An Advertising Feature" (see,
http://patft.uspto.gov/netahtml/srchnum.htm.) The method provides for inputting a phone number into a web browser and going to a web page. There is a feature for focussed advertising. The inventors are Nir Yacoby and Tau "Tony" Qui, both of Southern California.
The United Nations calculates that telephone numbers will be the primary means for
navigating the net on an international basis. There are two websites maintained by the UN
on its ENUM project; i.e., www.itu.int/osg/spu/enum/ and www.enum.org.
Consumers will be attracted to the methodology. There are national and international phone
directories. By knowing or learning the phone number for a business, a consumer will be
able to get to the website for the business.
Business will grow through expanded traffic to their websites. As explained below, the
methodology provides new advertising opportunities as well.
Portals and search engines will benefit from enhanced advertising revenues. A consumer`s
input of a phone number is revealing of what the consumer wants to purchase at that
moment. Accordingly, focussed advertising can be presented to the consumer.
The patent is available for license and/or purchase by contacting the Law Offices of
Howard L. Hoffenberg (Los Angeles, California) at 310-670-5825.
