Kaon® Enhances Product Communication in Flash®
New Software Lets Developers Compose Video Clips from 3D Models
Maynard, Mass., March 13, 2003 -- -- Kaon, supplier of 3D product representation technology to leading companies like Cisco and Dell, announced today that it is enhancing the way product communications are created in Flash with the launch of Video Clip Composer software.
Up to now, the time and cost to develop Flash product tours that successfully illustrate the functionality of products with moving parts and accessories has been prohibitive. With traditional photographic and video processes it is often too difficult to record multi-dimensional product motions, leading to product representations that do not achieve their communications goals.
Video Clip Composer gives Flash developers the ability to position 3D product models and parts virtually over a timeline and then capture those images in a video format ready for Flash.
"Video Clip Composer makes content creation a breeze. In the past, it has been a challenge to intuitively communicate complex product attributes. Video Clip Composer streamlines this process and allows for increased flexibility," said Robert Hodgin, co-founder and creative director of The Barbarian Group (www.barbariangroup.com), an interactive design firm. "We expect our clients to be impressed at how effectively and efficiently we are able to deliver their product messages."
When a 3D product model is used as the source for the moving images, companies are able to develop Flash applications and product videos that are more effective, cost less to develop, and are completed more quickly.
"For years Kaon has helped companies communicate complex product messages intuitively and interactively using 3D product models on the Web and in PowerPoint," said Jeff Melvin, Kaon President and CEO. "Now, with Video Clip Composer software, we are delivering the benefits of 3D imagery, enhancing product communications in Flash. Users can create an unlimited number of custom product videos from 3D models and import them into Flash for targeted marketing, sales, training and service applications."
Video Clip Composer is the first module of Kaon`s complete enterprise software application that will include Still Image Composer, Virtual Product Composer and Master Model Refresh. Composer was designed with two types of users in mind. In addition to Flash developers and other creative services professionals, members of the enterprise without specialized computer skills will find it easy to use Composer. Marketing, sales, training and service-oriented employees will be able to develop and extract custom video clips for use in presentations, product briefs, training and service applications.
Kaon`s Video Clip Composer is available now starting at $5,000 per user. The Composer server requires a Java2-capable platform, such as Windows 2000, with a minimum of 1GHz CPU and 1GB RAM. The recommended configuration is a 2.5GHz CPU with 2GB RAM. The Composer user interface is entirely browser-based, works on PC and Mac using IE 5 or greater, or Netscape 7 or greater.
