AKRON, Ohio – March 17, 2003 – Roadway Reverse Logistics, Inc. (RRLI), a wholly owned subsidiary of Roadway Express, Inc., announced the introduction of the Company’s R2Returnssm System Suite. R2Returns is a web-based product returns validation and transportation management tool that provides a simplified, controlled returns process.
Through a password-protected, secure network R2Returns System Suite provides customers access to their own information through RRLI’s web-based Returns Management Portal. Customized data entry, business rules and customer-specific data tables are applied for the purposes of controlling unauthorized product returns; comprehensive, accurate data gathering; and transportation cost management. Shipping documents, such as bills of lading, packing lists and shipping labels, as well as custom business forms, are printed locally to ensure their accuracy and delivery. Tracking and tracing of shipments with real-time carrier information completes the tool.
Receipt validation, inspection processing, putting away, picking and shipping of freight are the main functions of the Logistics Facility Management module of R2Returns Suite. Product receipts are compared with information from the Returns Management module for accuracy. Product data is captured and retained in the module database to allow reporting and data mining capabilities. Inspection of products based on customer-supplied criteria is one of many value-added services provided at the RRLI warehouse facilities. Information on the quality and condition of return products is captured to assist credit processing, significantly reducing credit cycle times.
Once the product has been received and processed, the information available to the customer becomes extremely valuable. Information can be extracted from the system in standard or custom formats and transmitted to the customer as frequently as needed. Standardized reports based on outbound shipping, product inventory and inspection processing are included with the R2Returns System Suite. Customized reporting is also available during project implementation.
"Lack of control and visibility, resulting in unauthorized returns and unnecessary transportation costs, created the need for a return process that provides convenience and efficiency," stated Joan Starkowsky, President of RRLI. "Our new R2Returns System Suite provides centralized control of return solutions to manufacturers, retailers and distributors with the convenience of web-enabled information visibility real time, anytime."
RRLI brings unique, customized solutions to the marketplace by combining its reverse logistics services with the vast Roadway Express transportation offerings.
