Online food retailer iGourmet.com is topping a busy year of business development with construction of a new 100,000 square foot headquarters and distribution center.
The retailer, No. 393 in the Internet Retailer Top 500 Guide, is beginning construction now and will move in next August, says CEO Spencer Chesman. The new headquarters will be located in Pittston, PA, and house the company’s expanded work force of 40 employees. “We have a lot on the plate and that’s pretty typical,” says Chesman.
IGourmet, which also fulfills third-party gourmet food orders for Amazon.com, Cooking.com, Costco.com, Target.com and others, is also putting in new e-commerce and enterprise resource planning applications to coincide with its physical expansion. The company recently implemented an ERP system from SAP AG and a customer ratings and review program from PowerReviews. By the end of the year, iGourmet will also add a product recommendation system from Aggregate Knowledge Inc.
Once the current slate of business development is complete iGourmet will launch a new distribution center in Europe and in 2009 look for a fulfillment center in the western U.S. Web sales are expected to grow by 15% in 2007 to around $12.9 million.
