Q3 web sales pep up NBTY

E-commerce sales for NBTY Inc. rose by 11.1% in the third quarter while total sales grew by 5.9%.

For the quarter e-commerce revenue totaled $17.9 million, up from $16.1 million in Q3 2006. At the same time total Q3 net sales rose to $503 million from $475 million in the prior year. “This increase reflects our ongoing efforts to garner greater online consumer sales,” the company says. “Puritan's Pride views the Internet as the driver of future growth.”

The web represented 38% of NBTY’s direct response/Puritan’s Pride division in Q3, up slightly from 33% in Q3 2006. But overall revenue for the direct response unit decreased 4.1% to $47 million from $49 million in Q3 2006, the company says.
