Boodle.com launches as a coupon site for retail grocers
Consumer Networks LLC is offering Boodle.com as well as coupon microsites tied to retail grocery web sites as a way for merchants and manufacturers to present, manage and analyze coupon programs, the company said this week.
Boodle.com presents about 70 coupons at any one time from major consumer products goods suppliers, covering brands such as Cheerios, Betty Crocker and Yoplait. Using technology on Boodle.com from Coupons Inc., shoppers print out coupons for redemption at grocery stores or online grocers such as SimonDelivers.com.
Retailers can also deploy their own version of Boodle.com linked to their own web site, an option Consumer Networks provides at no charge, says Terry Shirley, vice president of CPG sales. Grocers can operate the microsite at no charge if the site only presents coupons directly offered by manufacturers, who pay a fixed fee to Consumer Networks for each printed coupon.
Retailers also have the option to present their own branded coupons, in which case they pay the same fixed fee per printed coupon. The typical fee is a few cents, Shirley says.
The microsite, currently being used by independent operators of Supervalue grocery stores that operate their own web sites, enables the retailer to track each coupon program. “The great thing about the Internet is that we can track each coupon from when it’s printed to redemption,” Shirley says.
Boodle provides retailers reports on coupon usage that tie printing and redemption to consumer e-mail addresses, then works with retailers to e-mail follow-up coupon marketing messages to those consumers based on their past activity. Retailers can elect to receive reports through e-mail or access a web administration page to pull the reports themselves.
