Online Retailer Cites Need for Reliability and Service Continuity
ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. -- HSN.com, the online service of television`s popular Home Shopping Network, announced today it has selected AT&T to support its Web-based presence -- where millions of consumers shop for everything from the latest fall fashions to the newest high-tech gadgets.
By terms of the two-year contract valued at approximately $1 million, AT&T will provide HSN.com a technologically advanced Web solution for its online presence, including alternate-site hosting services from an AT&T Internet Data Center (IDC) in Arizona that complements HSN.com`s Tampa-based data center. AT&T will provide high-speed, dedicated connectivity between the two IDCs and help assure optimal performance of the HSN.com Web site by balancing Internet traffic to the centers.
"Our Web presence is central to our business," said Jack Rahner, Director of Technical Services, HSN.com. "Our online customers expect a flawless performance from us, and we expect no less of our suppliers. That`s why we turned to AT&T for this mission-critical support."
"It`s quite a compliment when an industry leader and innovator like HSN.com selects us to host its Web site," said Chuck Sanders, AT&T Hosting and Managed Services Vice President. "We`re excited to be working with HSN.com to assure an excellent experience for online visitors and to help HSN.com expand its business."
AT&T continues to invest, expand and experience significant growth in its Web hosting business, which includes a broad range of customer-managed and AT&T- managed application services. The company recently announced new IDCs in China, France and Australia, growing to 21 IDCs worldwide, including 13 in the United States.
AT&T can fully manage a business` hosting environment, from the network layer through applications performance. AT&T`s full suite of scalable Internet Protocol (IP) and managed hosting services includes business and application continuity, disaster recovery, content distribution, storage, managed security and firewall services and load balancing across multiple data center locations.
