QRS Catalogue 3.6 Now Available to Retail Industry
New Functionality Extends Reach in New Market Segments, Supports Global Standards
Richmond, CA - October 27, 2003 - QRS Corporation (Nasdaq: QRSI), announced today the general availability of QRS Catalogue, Version 3.6, the retail industry`s leading product data synchronization application.
QRS Catalogue 3.6 includes support for the 14-digit Global Trade Item Number (GTIN), more available product attributes, and significantly improved usability. These expanded features improve support for retail segments adjacent to general merchandise and apparel (GMA), including hardlines, consumer packaged goods (CPG) and consumer electronics, in which the products typically have complex and numerous product attributes. With 500 attributes per product, QRS Catalogue 3.6 supports the data attributes necessary for these retail segments to better manage data synchronization.
"Over 3,500 marketers, manufacturers, suppliers and retailers currently use QRS Catalogue to share product information," said QRS Liz Fetter, President and Chief Executive Officer. "This most recent release, with expanded product attributes and global standards support, delivers the power of data synchronization to a broader range of retail industry segments."
According to a recent AMR Research Rep-ort, "Data synchronization is a foundational requirement for all future Business-to-Business (B2B) initiatives, and for those with active projects, the benefits have been clear. Companies that embark on B2B initiatives without the necessary foundation in place will waste money by throwing it at a problem rather than the cause. AMR Research estimates this waste will total $2.1B by 2008." *
Emerging industry standards play a critical role in the future of data synchronization. QRS Catalogue`s support for the 14-digit GTIN standard addresses the needs of retailers and suppliers who have taken early steps to prepare for the January 1, 2005, date for GTIN compliance. The GTIN is an important element of ensuring accurate information sharing across a retailer`s global supply chain.
"QRS is committed to supporting the latest standards as the industry strives to achieve global interoperabilty among trading partners," said Renee d`Ouville, Vice President of Product Strategy at QRS. "QRS Catalogue`s GTIN compliance is one of the many product initiatives that we have undertaken in support of the Global Data Synchronization Network (GDSN)."
