Already in Use at hpshopping.com, BroadVision’s Advanced Staging Solution Automates and Simplifies the Deployment Process
REDWOOD CITY — November 5, 2003 — BroadVision, Inc. (Nasdaq: BVSN), a global provider of enterprise self-service web applications, today announced the 7.1 release of BroadVision® Deployment Center™, an application that allows organizations to control what, where and when BroadVision application assets are deployed, synchronizes deployment of related assets and allows users to track deployment status and quickly detect and correct any deployment problems.
Hewlett-Packard is already using Deployment Center 7.1 to manage deployment of portal assets for hpshopping.com, the company’s consumer-direct channel for sales of PCs, printers and other consumer products.
"Deployment Center has allowed us to streamline, simplify and standardize how and when we deploy content to our commerce site," said Roland Oberdorfer, chief technology officer, HP Shopping. "It`s also given us greater control over the staging and replication process and greater visibility into the deployment of individual jobs."
The new release features a simplified UI and new functionality (including “undo job” and support for pre- and post-staging scripts), is compatible with all major operating systems, databases and J2EE application servers and supports all BroadVision 7.1 applications.
“By simplifying and automating the deployment process, BroadVision Deployment Center reduces IT cost and complexity and that’s on everyone’s agenda these days,” says Warren Utt, senior vice president worldwide field operations, BroadVision. “Deployment Center is a clear win for companies like HP with complex deployment environments and for organizations that have been using ad-hoc or home-grown deployment solutions.”
About BroadVision Deployment Center
BroadVision Deployment Center is an advanced asset staging solution for BroadVision applications. Deployment Center provides BroadVision customers with an efficient and effective way to deploy BroadVision application assets by:
• Lowering the cost of managing BroadVision applications. Intuitive graphical tools enable non-technical users to manage deployment jobs and schedule jobs to run when it`s most convenient. Deployment Center reduces the time consumed in ongoing deployment activities, decreases the technical skills necessary for deployment and lessens the cost of changing deployment processes to meet evolving business needs.
• Increasing the productivity of IT staff. Deployment Center makes it much simpler to create and change deployment processes and to schedule jobs in advance to minimize their impact on ongoing operations. Managers can easily verify what has been deployed in a particular job.
• Improving process standardization across enterprise portal initiatives. Deployment Center provides a means for creating standardized processes that staff can easily repeat on different projects in different locations.
