Zale Corp. names Betsy Burton president and CEO
Zale Corp., a multi-channel jewelry retailer, has named acting CEO Betsy Burton as president and CEO, the retailer said yesterday.
Burton, who has served as acting CEO since February, was chosen after a comprehensive search for a CEO, the company said. “Under her leadership, we are moving forward with a customer-centric strategy that leverages our fundamental strengths to regain market share,” said chairman Richard C. Markus.
Burton has formerly served as CEO of Supercuts and PIP Printing. She currently serves on the boards of several companies, including Zale, Staples Inc. and Aeropostale Inc.
Zale, No. 226 in the Internet Retailer Top 500 Guide to Retail Web Sites, operates more than 2,345 stores as well as Zales.com. Its brands include Zales Jewelers, Gordon’s Jewelers and Banks & Biddle Jewelers.
